
PBS archive add-ons supports aggressive archiving of SAP data without loss of re-access to archived data required by key-users. The PBS archive add-on retrieve and display archived documents in the SAP R/3 system and their link data (index data). They are displayed again in the online operation via integrated transactions in the SAP system together with the data in the R/3 database. Thus a comfortable online availability of several fiscal years’ data can be realized.
The PBS archive add-on stores the document data of the R/3 applications. In addition, the link data (index data) for the display of the partner roles and the connection between material master data and documents is constructed and stored. The data is not stored in the R/3 database but in sequential files in the file system of the corresponding operation system. This guarantees a reduction of the load on the R/3 database and a fast access to the documents related to a master record.
